Marion, IL is the county seat of Williamson County and conveniently located at the intersection of Interstate 57 and State Route 13 in beautiful Southern Illinois. With Interstate 64 just 30 minutes to the North and Interstate 24 only minutes to the South, Marion offers access to several metropolitan areas such as St. Louis, Indianapolis and Nashville.  Williamson County is considered the fastest growing county in Illinois outside the Chicago "collar counties" and the counties in the Metro-East area.

Williamson County lies in the heart of the Southern Illinois region. The Southern Illinois region extends from Interstate 64 to the north to the extreme southern tip of Illinois, at the point where the Mississippi and Ohio rivers meet. St. Louis, Missouri is 120 miles northwest via Interstates 57 and 64, while Nashville, Tennessee is 170 miles southeast via Interstates 57 and 24. Ten of the major population centers in the Midwest—Chicago, Cincinnati, Des Moines, Evansville, Indianapolis, Kansas City, Little Rock, Memphis, Milwaukee and Louisville—are all within a day's drive of Williamson County.

Illinois Route 13, currently a 4-lane divided highways extends east and west through Williamson County.
