2020 Young Professional Leadership Award winner is Dalus Downs

Dalus Ben Avi serves as Director of Marketing and Community Engagement for Centerstone in Illinois. Centerstone is a not-for-profit health system providing mental health and substance use disorder treatments. As Director of Marketing and Community Engagement, Dalus develops and implements new strategies for marketing, community outreach and both internal and external communication campaigns. She also promotes and advances Centerstone’s mission and serves as liaison to legislators on key issues.


Prior to her work at Centerstone, Dalus served as the Executive Director of the Marion Chamber, Coordinator of Communications for Brehm Preparatory School in Carbondale, and numerous positions in the print media industry including editor, general manager, and publisher of newspapers throughout Illinois and eastern U.S.


Dalus received her Bachelor of Science degree from Southern Illinois University Carbondale and her Master of Science in management from Argosy University. Within the community, Dalus is involved with programs focused on youth, substance abuse, and local chambers of commerce.

Members of the Marion Chamber of Commerce were asked to submit nominations for individuals who demonstrate excellence and initiative in their business or profession and are under the age of 40. The finalists and winner were selected by the members of the Marion Chamber of Commerce Awards Committee. The first Young Professional Leadership Award was given in 2010 to Meredith Ashe.


Last year’s winner was Tyler Young.

On Monday, February, members of the business community, civic leaders, and staff of Rachael Academy of Education gathered to celebrate the opening of their new facility in Marion. Ribbon Cutting guests were greeted by Chamber Board Chair Deborah Hogg. Mayor Michael Absher spoke about need in this area for additional educational and behavioral resources. Mary Anderson, Directory of the academy, and Nathan thanked their staff, interns, and community partners on their help to make this facility a reality.
