Groundbreaking at Towneplace Suites by Marriott
On Thursday. November 2nd, elected officials gathered with the business community to break ground and celebrate the construction of a Towneplace Suites by Marriott property in Marion. This property will be located on the west side of I-57 at the corner of Halfway Road and Walton Way. It will include 77 rooms/suites and should be welcoming guests in early 2025. Carbondale-based SSST LLC is heading up construction and JV Hospitality Group and SiLa Developments of Nashville, TN, are overseeing and managing the project.
Michelle Hamilton, the Chamber’s Board Chair, welcomed the crowd and Mayor Michael Absher and State Representative Paul Jacobs spoke about how the project reflects the strong economy and growth in our region. Jay Patel of SiLa Developments spoke about the history of the project, their excitement to enter this phase of the project, and the 12,000+ sq ft restaurant and retail area that will also be constructed on the project site. The group then gathered to turn a shovel to mark the occasion and the public asked the developers questions and viewed blueprints of the project.

Construction has broken ground on TownePlace Suites by Marriott in Marion, Illinois under JV Hospitality Group and SiLa Developments. The two companies are expanding their hospitality options in the area by developing in high-growth neighborhoods.
The TownePlace Suites by Marriott in Marion will be SiLa Developments' first hotel in the Marion region. When the TownePlace Suites by Marriott opens, it will provide the neighborhood with 77 rooms and suites in total and offer guest suites with full kitchens, outdoor community patios with grills, free WiFi, on-site laundry, an upscale fitness centre, and an indoor pool. It is situated off Halfway Road and Walton Way close to interstate 57.
